The NCCC Story
God has been faithful to North Cincinnati Community Church and continues to work in and through us as we strive to be a “City on a Hill,” proclaiming the gospel in word and deed to Cincinnati and the world.
Looking back
Dr. Walter Wood, Jr. and his family moved from Atlanta in December 1993 with a vision to start a church in Greater Cincinnati. Walter had a plan, but no contacts. But God was at work! After a year of prayer and people gathering in small group Bible studies, North Cincinnati Community Church held its first worship service on January 8, 1995, in a hotel then called the Quality Inn Kings Island.
The NCCC congregation quickly outgrew the hotel, and in April 1995 we moved to the Village Seventh Day Adventist Church in Mason. In December 1997 as our church family continued to expand, we acquired a beautiful 15-acre piece of property on Irwin-Simpson Road in Deerfield Township. Having successfully raised the necessary funds, we paid off the land in December 2000 and began preparations for building our new church home.
With building plans well underway, NCCC became too large for the Seventh Day Adventist Church and in October 2001 the Mason Intermediate School became our new home. In November 2001, an official groundbreaking ceremony was held on the new church property to begin the building process. We held the first worship service in our new 31,000 square foot facility on June 20, 2002.
Moving Forward
In 2004, NCCC turned 10 years old and began a new decade of ministry. We updated our logo and our vision statement, and developed a new 10-year ministry plan. Our first decade was dedicated to developing strong worship and discipleship. Our desire now is to be “A City on a Hill,” equipping our church body to grow personally in Christ and reach out in ministry to others.
Over the last few years we have hired new church staff, expanded and improved our ministries, and planted several new churches. We’ve purchased additional acreage adjacent to our original church property, in preparation for whatever future expansion and new ministry opportunies God may provide. We look forward excitedly to the future…and we’d love to have you be part of it!
